Pride Month is a time to celebrate love, identity, and community, and to honor the many ways people show up as their authentic selves.
Whether you’re heading to a local Pride event, supporting LGBTQ+ organizations, learning more about Pride history, or simply gathering with friends and family, there are so many ways to take part. From joyful celebrations to meaningful conversations and colorful drinks that bring people together, here’s how to celebrate Pride all month long.
What is the history of Pride Month?
Pride Month traces back to the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969 in New York City, a pivotal moment that helped ignite the modern movement for LGBTQ+ rights.
The following year, the first Pride marches were held. Today, Pride is recognized around the world through parades, festivals, and community events.
At its core, Pride is both a celebration and a reflection of the ongoing journey toward equality, visibility, and belonging.
What do the different Pride flags mean?
The colors of the Pride flag represent values like life, healing, sunlight, nature, harmony, and spirit. They also reflect the beauty that comes from different identities and experiences coming together.
Like a great recipe, every “ingredient” adds something meaningful to the whole. Today, there are many Pride flags that represent diverse identities and communities, each centered on visibility, inclusion, and pride.
How can I be a good ally during Pride?
Being an ally is about showing up consistently, not just in June.
A few meaningful ways to take action:
- Listen to and amplify LGBTQ+ voices
- Support LGBTQ+ owned businesses
- Speak up against discrimination
- Stay curious and keep learning
Allyship is ongoing, and small, intentional actions can make a big difference.

- The Trevor Project (crisis support and mental health services for LGBTQ+ youth)

- Layer your colors – Slowly pour syrups or different density liquids over the back of a spoon for a rainbow gradient effect
- Use garnishes intentionally – Rainbow sour belts, fresh fruit, citrus wheels, or even candy skewers instantly elevate the look
- Add playful texture – Sprinkles on whipped cream, sanding sugar rims, or crushed candy at the bottom of the glass
- Go full festive – Rainbow umbrellas, striped straws, and colorful ice cubes make drinks feel celebration-ready
- Think contrast: Clear sodas + bold syrups = the most vibrant visual payoff
- Extra sparkles – Add edible glitter to your drink creation to add a shimmer
